At the conference site, display boards comparing product samples with quality issues identified in previous quality inspections and qualified products were placed. A large screen played a documentary on the whole-process quality control of printing in a loop. With the core theme of "Strengthening the Quality Defense Line and Improving Production Precision", the conference aimed to unify the quality consensus of all employees and systematically arrange the key quality management tasks for this year.
This conference closely focused on the main line of the whole-process quality control of printing and the improvement of production precision, and first conducted a comprehensive review of the achievements of quality inspection work in 2024. According to the report from the company's Quality Inspection Department, over the past year, by optimizing the process of the "Three-Inspection System" (self-inspection, mutual inspection, and special inspection), the qualification rate of printed products has increased from 97.2% to 98.8%, and the customer quality complaint rate has decreased by 35% year-on-year. The "Color Standardization Control Plan" implemented for textbook printing projects has controlled the color deviation rate of products in the same batch within the industry's excellent standard of ΔE ≤ 1.5, successfully winning long-term cooperation orders from 3 large-scale publishing institutions. These solid achievements have greatly encouraged all participants at the conference.
While affirming the achievements, the conference also faced up to the current quality shortcomings in production. "Some batches of products have the problem of overprint deviation exceeding 0.1mm. Although it is still within the industry standard, there is still a gap from the requirements of high-end customers," Wang Qiang, Director of the Production Department, pointed out the problem directly in his speech. He took the recent printing of a batch of children's picture books as an example. Due to insufficient precision in the deployment of spot color inks, there was a slight difference between the cover color and the design draft. Although the delivery was not affected after rework, it exposed loopholes in the detailed control. In addition, the insufficient quality stability in special processes such as gold stamping and UV varnishing also became the focus of in-depth discussions among the participants. After nearly an hour of discussion, it was finally decided to formulate improvement plans from two aspects: optimization of process parameters and increase of equipment debugging frequency.
To effectively strengthen the quality defense line, the conference officially released four key measures for quality management in 2025. In terms of refining quality standards, the quality inspection team will revise and improve the inspection rules covering 12 categories of printed products in combination with the latest national standard "Quality Requirements and Inspection Methods for Printed Products" and the personalized needs of customers. It will add 28 specific indicators such as "Limits for Heavy Metal Content in Inks for Children's Books" and "Testing Frequency for Abrasion Resistance of Packaging Printing" to ensure that the quality requirements of each link are clear and actionable. In the aspect of upgrading testing equipment, the company plans to invest 5 million yuan to introduce 3 sets of intelligent color testing instruments and 2 sets of online overprint precision monitoring systems. The new equipment can realize the fully automatic inspection of 300 printed products per hour, which is 5 times more efficient than manual inspection, and the detection error rate is reduced to within 0.02mm.
For strengthening employee training, a dual-track model of "theory + practical operation" will be adopted. Special lectures on quality awareness will be held once a month, and industry experts will be invited to interpret quality regulations and typical cases. Two sessions of practical skill training will be organized every quarter, focusing on the assessment of new equipment operation and special process control. Only those who pass the assessment can take up their posts. For improving the whole-process closed-loop management, a full-chain traceability system covering "raw materials - production - finished products - after-sales service" will be built. Third-party quality inspection reports must be provided for the storage of raw materials. 5 key quality control points will be set up in the production process. The traceability mechanism will be activated for unqualified products in finished product inspection, and the after-sales quality problems will be responded to and handled within 24 hours, forming a complete closed loop of "discovery - rectification - verification - prevention".
